Visiting preachers
Here is some information about people who have either recently preached at Oxford Place
or will do so in the next few months.

The Revd Stephen Poxon is the President of the Methodist Conference.

The Revd Inderjit Bhogal was President of the Methodist Conference in 2000
and a past director of the Urban Theology Unit in Sheffield.
At present he is Director of the Yorkshire and Humberside Faiths Forum.
Inderjit was born into a Sikh family in Nairobi, Kenya,
and came to England with them in 1964.

The Revd Clifford Bellamy is a Circuit Judge in the Midland Circuit.
For a few years he was a sector minister attached to the Leeds Mission Circuit.
During his time with us he built up relations
with the courts helping to establish the Courts Chaplaincy.

The Revd Sue Smith is a minister
in the Leeds West Circuit. Sue is the District Probationers'
Secretary and serves on the Learning and Development Forum.

John Bell was Vice-president
of the Methodist Conference in 2005/6. John is a retired business
executive from the Chester and Stoke District. He was educated at
Grammar Schools in Sunderland and Newcastle. He has a special interest
in the role of faith in the workplace, and in the selection and
training of people for ministry.

Nigel Greenwood is Co-ordinator of One City Projects,
an ecumenical resource which provides programmes for the churches in Leeds (and beyond)
to explore and engage with issues of social justice. Founded under Faith in Leeds,
One City Projects became independent in 2002 and is now part of the
Leeds Christian Community Trust and also affiliated to Leeds Church Institute.

Deaconess Seija Frears is the a member of the Universities Chaplaincy Team
appointed by the Lutheran Church and takes special responsibility for
International Students. Seija comes originally from Finland but has lived
and worked in Bangkok (Thailand) and in Marseille (France)..

The Revd Rachel Parkinson and her family were part of our church family
at Oxford Place for many years. She was ordained in 2003 and since then
has been stationed in the Thirsk and Northallerton circuit in North Yorkshire.

John Witt is a local preacher in the Leeds North East Circuit
and is the National Advocate for the
Leaders of Worship and Preachers Trust (LWPT)
for the year 2006-7.

The Rt Revd John Packer is the Bishop of
Ripon and Leeds.
|
The Revd Lousiale Uasike, a Minister from the Methodist Church in Tonga,
who is visiting Janet and Adrian after Christmas, will lead worship
with Adrian on Christian Unity Sunday, 21st January.
Lousiale was one of Adrian's colleagues at the Sia'atoutai
Theological College, where he was Principal.
She is in the UK on her way back to Tonga from a period of study
at the World Council of Churches' College at Bossey in Switzerland.
